Canadian Income Tax Director

THE ROLE
Reporting to the Vice-President, Taxation, within the Corporate Finance team, the Director, Canadian Income Tax will provide expert advice on income tax matters, primarily from a Canadian perspective, but will also collaborate on mandates of an international nature.
What You’ll Do
Here are just a few ways that you’ll help make journeys better:
- Act as an advisor to internal clients helping them make rational tax decisions after analyzing tax considerations;
- Develop and support a team of tax professionals with clear objectives and consistent feedback;
- Collaborate with various business units, functional groups and external advisors. Analyze business issues, meet objectives, and collaborate with group members to execute strategies and planning;
- Be in charge of the income tax returns preparation for the Canadian companies;
- Prepare, review or assist for any other form and calculations required for a group having an international scale, such as T1134 forms, calculations of fiscal surpluses, CbCr and Pillar 2;
- Compile and analyze the required information related to the conformity purposes with the Federal and Provincial Income taxes;
- Research, evaluate, communicate and advise on the implications of emerging tax issues and identify areas that could create or increase the tax risks. Participate in making representations to the various tax authorities when required;
- Carry out tax researches on diverse subjects related to the Canadian and International Income Tax;
- Contribute to the identification and to the reduction of the fiscal risks;
- Participate in the establishment of quarterly and annual tax provisions;
- Contribute to the coordination of the audits from the tax authorities;
- Participate in the realization of special projects such as acquisitions and reorganizations;
- Collaborate in any other related project.
What You’ll Need
- Minimum of twelve (12) years of relevant experience;
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting (CPA) or any other relevant training;
- Having finalized In-Depth Tax Course or having a Master's degree in taxation
- Experience in international transactions, as well as in acquisitions of companies would be an asset;
- Strong skills in tax accounting. Good knowledge of accounting standards IFRS related to income tax.
- Show leadership, initiative, resourcefulness, autonomy, accuracy, commitment and have a good analytical and business mind;
- Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and ability to translate complex tax matters to management and cross functional colleagues.
- Good knowledge of how to manage priorities while respecting the deadlines;
- Ability to work as a team and manage personnel;
- Strong skills of the office tools such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint;
- Strong software skills allowing to file income tax statements and tax forms, such as Taxprep T2 and Taxprep Forms;
- Bilingual (French and English), both oral and written.
