Communication Coordinator

The Tŝilhqot'in National Government (TNG), is the official First Nations government serving the Tŝilhqot'in Nation. TNG is located in Williams Lake, British Columbia and serves six communities which include ʔEsdilagh, Tŝideldel, Yunesit'in, Tl'etinqox, Xeni Gwet'in, and Tl'esqox.
The Tŝilhqot’in Nation (Nation) is a world leader in advancing Indigenous rights and title, as demonstrated by the landmark Aboriginal Title Declaration from the Supreme Court of Canada in 2014. The Nation is currently implementing a ground-breaking tripartite framework agreement (Gwets’en Nilt’i Pathway Agreement) with the goal of transforming, over the next 5 years, the fundamental relationships between the Tŝilhqot’in Nation and the Federal and Provincial Crown governments.
The Tŝilhqot'in National Government is looking to hire a Communication Coordinator The Communication Coordinator will support the Communications Manager by implementing communication plans and needs as set out by each TNG Department.
Preference will be given to those of Aboriginal Ancestry – Section 16(1) Canadian Human Rights Act.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement communication plans with each respective TNG department;
- Liaise with program and administrative staff to support web updates;
- Participate in content production, including website, social media, presentations, newsletters;
- Plan, organize, document and report on projects as needed;
- Provide communication support for Nation events as required;
- Research innovative solutions to communication;

- Personal Leadership, including influence, initiative, judgment and decision making, creativity and innovation
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of related experience in the public or private sector (preferred)
- Experience with Indigenous communities (preferred)
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Must be able to meet deadlines
- Demonstrated communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Motivated self-starter with strong attention to detail
- Excellent listener and ability to surmise key points from conversation.
- Ability to multi-task and work under shifting priorities and deadlines while maintaining a positive outlook and personable communication style.
- Sound understanding of social media platforms including (but not limited to): Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube.
- Graphic design and video editing skills considered an asset
- Must be willing to travel
- Ability to attend and conduct presentations.
- Ability to attend Nation events
