ROLE OVERVIEW

The Director of Talent (North America) will work closely with the Head of People and Culture to drive and execute the agency’s Talent strategy broadly. This role will focus on delivering excellence in the areas of Talent Acquisition, Talent Measurement, and Talent Development with the opportunity to influence other areas of People & Culture. The Director of Talent will lead recruitment efforts across a breadth of role types including Creative, Social Media, Digital & Developer, Media, Strategy, XM/Accounts, and more.

The Director of Talent will play a critical role in guiding, managing, and delivering organization-wide strategies in the areas of recruiting, employee engagement, talent retention and talent development that meet the current and future needs of the agency.

In partnership with our Department Leads and the broader People & Culture team, you’ll work in a fast-paced environment to help us attract and develop the best talent in the industry.

Primary responsibilities include:

Talent Acquisition:

  • Oversee the talent acquisition strategy for Salt XC (Canada & USA) and ‘The Kitchen (an agile social team in partnership with KraftHeinz) to bring best-in-class, diverse talent to the agency
  • Partner with the Senior Leadership Team on an ongoing basis to proactively identify upcoming resource and talent development needs.
  • Guide the recruiters on how to optimize each stage of the recruiting cycle from job postings, sourcing, vetting and offering candidates
  • Create tools for the recruiting process including interview guides, briefing documents, and materials to present candidates
  • Own the ongoing strategic development of our recruiting processes by identifying competitive landscapes, providing insight on competitive benchmarking, defining candidate populations, and refining the employer brand
  • Develop and implement the strategy to build a diverse pipeline of talent; manage the mix of sourcing opportunities
  • Support with building the employer brand through virtual and in-person recruiting opportunities like career fairs, and external communications
  • Identify employer brand opportunities that can drive specific recruitment challenges & partner with the brand team to bring those ideas using strong KPIs and sound brand strategy
  • Work closely with the Communications Lead on content for LinkedIn company page

Talent Measurement:

  • Maintain and update all recruitment metrics related to candidate experience, recruiter efficiency, quality of hire, etc.
  • Develop monthly reporting to deliver to the Head of People and Culture and the broader Executive Leadership Team
  • Develop dashboards and reporting tools to analyze broader People and Culture metrics including employee turnover, talent mobility, DEI, etc.

Talent Development:

  • Collaborate with the People and Culture to on strategic talent management and talent development initiatives
  • Support with the implementation of learning and development including on-boarding, live and virtual learning, leadership training and general employee upskilling
  • Consult and support with the design and delivery of employee engagement and retention initiatives
  • Oversee Salt’s summer early talent program called “Summer Squad” including the application and consideration process; Partner with the Director, People and Culture on summer programming for this cohort

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in a talent-focused role
  • Functional expertise in talent acquisition, onboarding, workforce and succession planning, employee and leadership development, performance management and employee engagement initiatives is required
  • High degree of proficiency with ATS implementation and optimization, and other recruitment tools such as LinkedIn, LinkedIn Recruiter and Glass Door
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to provide guidance, support and direction to new hires, internal teams and executive stakeholders
  • Collaborative leader; actively looking for more efficient ways to support the team and provide consultation across the organization
  • Influential personality & excellent negotiation skills
  • Entrepreneurial mindset & strong work ethic
  • Experience consulting, presenting, and communicating with executives and other key stakeholders
  • Thorough understanding and interpretation of related legislation and regulations in Canada and the USA in the areas of labour relations, employment standards, and DEI
