Duties And Responsibilities
The Hairdresser functions interdependently with the entire care team to meet the needs of the residents of the Long Term Care Centre and clients of the Adult Day Service through the provision of hair salon services. As an Independent Contractor you will be responsible for the following:
- Demonstrate and promote a person centred approach to service delivery
- Work in partnership with all members of the Long Term Care Centre and Adult Day Services.
- Complete and maintain all necessary documentation required by the Long Term Care Centre
- Work hours and days as scheduled, be on time and prepared for residents and clients scheduled appointments
- Analyzes hair to determine condition of hair and appropriate treatment methods in collaboration with the resident/client/Power of Attorney/Substitute Decision Maker/Multidisciplinary Care Team
- Maintains work station and other salon areas in a clean, orderly manner by performing a variety of housekeeping tasks as per the Long Term Care Homes Act, 2007 and Health and Safety Requirements.
- Responsible for supplying all hair care products such as perm solutions, hair dyes and conditions with corresponding MSDS sheets which shall remain in the hair salon at all times
- Responsible for supplying all required hairstyling tools including but not limited to combs, brushes, rollers, blow dryers, perm rods, hair clips, scissors, capes, sterilizing solutions.
Qualifications
- The hairdresser must be a licensed hairdresser in the Province of Ontario. The licence shall be maintained by the hairdresser and posted in a visible area within the salon at all times.
- Personal Services License under By-Law 0289-2013 must be maintained annually
- Proof of General Liability Insurance ($2,000,000)
- Minimum of 2-3 years hairdressing experience, preferably in a related long term care/retirement environment and/or experience working with older adults
- Excellent communication skills, organizational ability and customer service skills
- Experience and demonstrated success working within a multidisciplinary care team
- Barbicide COVID-19 Certification or similar is considered an asset
Location : Sheridan Villa Long Term Care, 2460 Truscott Drive, Mississauga
Duration: One year, with potential for additional year extension
Hours of Work : 9:30am-4:30pm Monday – Friday (excluding statutory holidays)
