Laboratory Technician

Summary:

AGAT Laboratories is currently hiring for a Laboratory Technician to join our Inorganics/Environmental working out of our Dartmouth, NS facility. The Laboratory Technician will gain career experience in a laboratory with direction from the Laboratory Supervisor and other Laboratory team members. The successful candidate will assist with administrative and basic laboratory activities.

Preferred start date : May 1st 2023;

Schedule: Monday to Friday from 8am to 4:30pm;

This is a position with a permanent status.

Duties:

• Perform basic laboratory procedures including preparation of samples, reagents and calibration solutions.
• Provide general lab support including washing glassware, cleaning work stations and waste disposal.
• Calibrate, operate, maintain and troubleshoot intermediate instruments.
• Compile, verify and validate accurate data records.
• Meet quality assurance and turn around specifications.
• Follow all Quality Control and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Report results.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education with a Technical Diploma or Science Degree would be an asset.
• 1-3 years of experience
• Previous laboratory work experience.
• Candidates with ICP knowledge/experience would be an asset.
• Basic computer skills with experience with MS office and LIMS.
• Good communication skills and fluency in English both verbal and written.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks within a fast-paced work environment.
• Hand-Eye coordination and attention to detail.
• Mature work ethic, with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Ability to lift 25+ pounds on a consistent basis.

Work Environment: This position requires a person to stand, sit and lift throughout the shift in a laboratory environment. Manual dexterity is required to perform repetitive tasks. PPE is required where applicable.
