As a Marketing Specialist for Mentor Works, you will be executing cutting-edge omni-channel marketing campaigns, involving multiple channels including: web content, blogs, social media, events, and emails. The Marketing Specialist will join a team of experienced digital marketers and learn best practices related to modern marketing, including the buyer's journey, lead generation strategies, search engine optimization (SEO), and thought leadership.

An ideal candidate for this role will enjoy writing, ensuring an effective B2B social media marketing approach, turning exciting marketing ideas into reality, and helping Canadian businesses access government funding to help them grow and succeed.

Mentor Works was created for the purpose of helping established Canadian businesses find and leverage government funding. We offer a wide variety of online resources to educate the general public, which supplements our personalized approach to funding. Our core service offering is to help businesses identify funding opportunities, then execute on the application process to optimize their success with government incentives.

Our team connects directly with business owners via workshops, webinars, and one-on-one funding strategy sessions to determine what their strategic initiatives are for the next 12-24 months. Mentor Works then pairs those initiatives with funding programs and supports the application process. We are not a funding organization; we are a funding support services company, guiding businesses towards the right sources of cash, while minimizing their time with the funding application process.

The Role: Marketing Specialist

The Marketing Specialist position at Mentor Works will have responsibilities related to all marketing verticals, including:

  • Content writing of thought leadership and funding-related articles to educate Canadian business professionals and drive website traffic.
  • Social media campaigns and strategizing content that will be posted across each of our platforms, including Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, and YouTube.
  • Search engine optimization (SEO) tactics for relevant digital marketing assets, including website pages and blog posts.
  • Inbound marketing campaign execution across a wide variety of channels including blog content, downloadable resources, and email assets.
  • Event planning and promotions for both webinars and live events, incorporating co-branded and solo sessions to engage and nurture leads and clients, as well as tech support for webinars during the day of the event.
  • Government funding tracking to stay current on all active and upcoming programs and capitalizing on market opportunities.
  • Research marketing opportunities with prospective strategic partners, events, backlink opportunities, and public relations strategies.

  • Special projects, such as website improvements, graphic design, collaborative work with other departments, and other assignments will provide further depth to the role.
  • Bonus: Translating and localizing content for a Québec audience. Not a requirement for the role, but candidates with the ability to translate English content into French Canadian is an asset.
  • Bonus: Marketing analytics platform management and improvements, including reporting and insight gathering.

Skills & Requirements

We are looking for a resourceful, creative marketer who is self-driven, and adaptable to new technologies and processes. Candidates with experience in content marketing, SEO, and are bilingual in English and French Canadian are preferred.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of business-to-business (B2B) marketing experience.
  • Post-secondary graduate of a marketing, business, English, and/or web design program.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with adhering to search engine optimization (SEO) best practices.
  • Familiarity with social media business profile management, including LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a team.
  • Capability to think strategically and creatively.
  • Solution-based mindset and self-starter.

Bonus Abilities

  • Bilingual (English & French Canadian) writing skills are an asset.
  • Graphic design competency, such as Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.
  • Knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and SQL coding language, as well as WordPress.
  • Experience with Google Analytics or other web presence optimization platforms.
