The fellowship intends to promote TMU as an educational and research hub, encouraging collaboration and innovation that will benefit Tokyo and beyond.

Tokyo Metropolitan University, also known as TMU, is a public research university in Japan. In contrast to other non-private institutions in Tokyo, the university was formed by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government rather than the national government. It is ranked #1001-1200 in the QS World University Rankings 2026.

The Tokyo Metropolitan University Scholarship is designed for high-achieving students who want to pursue graduate studies at Tokyo Metropolitan University (TMU). International students pursuing Master’s and PhD degrees can apply for a fully supported scholarship at Tokyo Metropolitan University through the Tokyo Global Partner Scholarship Program. Eligibility Criteria:

To qualify for the Tokyo Global Partner Fully Funded Scholarship 2026 in Japan, candidates must meet the following requirements:

Fully funded scholarships

  • You must presently be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program for Masters Program.
  • PhD applicants must be currently enrolled in a master’s degree program.
  • Institutional Affiliation: The academic institution where you are enrolled (as previously specified) must be:
    • A partner institution of TMU, OR.
    • A higher education institution based in:
    • Any of Tokyo’s sister cities,
    • any Asian country or region.
  • Professional Affiliation: Alternatively, or additionally, applicants may be qualified if they work in
    • A research institution,
    • governmental body, o
    • enterprise.
  • This organization’s location must be at:
    • Any of Tokyo’s sister cities, or
    • any other Asian country or region.
